This is one of two tin eagles that were used to decorate the high school in Corsicana, TX in 1902. They were on top of the domes on either side of the front facade. Corsicana was given its name by Jose Antonio Navarro, a hero of the fight for Texas independence. He said, “Call the town Corsicana after Corsica the island of my father's birth.” When the high school was torn down in 1930 to build a new junior high school, my mother who was five and lived across the street, and a couple of friends found the eagle head in the rubble. Framed, 13" x 16 1/2"   Image, 6 3/4" x 10"
